Given the Supreme Court ruling returning decisions on abortion to the states, we naturally ask if there's anything more we can be doing for the parents who need support caring for an infant. Several organizations in the Grand Ledge and Lansing areas are already providing services, and here are some ways to help:
Grand Ledge Food and Clothing Bank: They will make any food, clothing, and other supplies available for babies and pregnant women in the Grand Ledge area. Donations can be taken to 4980 Burt Ave, Grand Ledge.
Hannah's House, Lansing: This residential facility houses pregnant women. Their website lists the following needs: Kitchen Flatware/Utensils, Flashlights, Gift Cards to Meijer for groceries, Bottled Water, Individually wrapped snacks and drinks, 2 gallon size zip lock baggies, Diapers (newborn and size 4, 5), Baby wipes, Diaper bags, Baby clothing, Receiving blankets, Burp cloths, Bibs (new or gently used), Paper towels, toilet paper, Napkins, Paper Plates, Tall Kitchen size trash bags, Printer paper, Business size envelopes, Ink cartridges HP 902, 02XL Black and Color, Gift cards to Meijer (needed for underwear, socks, gloves), Gift card from Walgreens/RiteAid, Kitchen towels and Dishcloths, Laundry detergent/baby clothes laundry detergent (ie. Dreft), Dryer sheets, Bathroom Cleansers, Lysol wipes/spray, Liquid hand soap, Size C batteries for baby swing & AAA, AA batteries.
SIREN/Eaton Shelter: They provide support service to domestic violence survivors. They list the following needs: twin flat sheets, twin fitted sheets, twin blankets, pillow cases, box fans (new), twin size zip mattress covers (new), pillows (new). Donations can be taken to 520 Robinson St, Charlotte, Mondays - Fridays from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
