The St. Michael Earth Care Team hosts a Scrap Metal Drive each April. Items that are comprised mostly of scrap metal may be recycled. See the lists below of what is and is not acceptable for donation. Would you like to help with the drive? Would you like to join the Earth Care Team? Just call the office or fill out the form to the left.
All scrap metal will be recycled by Friedland Industries, a local scrap metal processor in Lansing. Proceeds from the sale of the scrap metal are used for energy efficiency improvements for the church and school.
2023 Collection date: April 22
April 2022 Report: The large roll-off bin from the recycling facility was nearly full, along with a large amount of premium, non-ferrous metals handled separately. Free tree seedlings, suitable for ornamental planting, were given to patrons (courtesy of the Eaton Conservation District). We thank all those who participated, both patrons and volunteers. The totals are in, and we’re happy to report the 2022 scrap drive was very successful. Total income for general metals, premium metals, and high-value items sold outright was $1,655. The St. Michael Earth Care Team will consider how best to use these funds for church and/or school energy savings projects.
We genuinely appreciate all the efforts of patrons, volunteers, and parish staff to make this year’s scrap drive an outstanding success. And remember to keep setting aside your metal scrap to bring it in for the 2023 event!
