All students wishing to celebrate a sacrament will participate in Religious Education classes, either through the parish school or the religious education program the year before and the year of the sacrament. Normally first and second grades.
Required sacrament preparation is done through a family-centered program which includes home study assignments and workshops to prepare for each sacrament.
Reconciliation & First Eucharist:
Students wishing to prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist must have already received the sacrament of Baptism. Sacrament classes for Reconciliation and First Eucharist normally begin as early as 2nd grade and the process involves a series of parent/child workshops aimed at involving the whole family in the preparation. Sessions begin shortly after school begins and our First Eucharist celebrations usually occur in early May.
In accordance with diocesan guidelines, all students will prepare for Reconciliation prior to preparation for their first Eucharist.

All students will need a sponsor who is an active member in the Catholic Church who will be able to be present at the Rite of Confirmation. There will be various activities for the sponsor and student to complete together throughout the year. If the family is unable to find a sponsor, we will help find a good match in the parish.
If you are unsure if your child is prepared for sacramental preparation because they did not attend religious education last year, has not been baptized, or is past the usual sacrament age, please contact Megan Drake to make arrangements and discuss the options available.
