Being stewards of our resources is part of our parish mission. It is also the appeal in which Pope Francis writes about in his encyclical, Laudato Si’. It is his call for a new dialog about how we are shaping the future of our planet and his urging for us to cooperate “as instruments of God for the care of creation.”
In the links below we explore Pope Francis’s Encyclical and highlight teachings from each of the six chapters. The full text can be found on the Vatican website at w2.vatican.va.
In the Encyclical opening, the Pope talks about how so many of us are united by the same concern. From Pope Paul VI, to Pope Benedict and the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, there is “an urgent challenge to protect our common home.” They call us to approach nature and the environment with awe and wonder, to see God in the beauty of the environment and the creatures that he created.
Here's a beautiful reflection on Earth Day.
